Mission Team Support
TXCDR activates its Mission Team Support (MTS) program whenever there is a disaster in or near the TXCDR service area that requires response teams from outside the immediate disaster area. When TXCDR Congregations report that the response needs of their region exceed the regional disaster response capability, TXCDR may implement MTS for TXCDR member Congregations who are sending mission teams into the impacted region.
Mission Team Support helps Congregations plan their mission trips by providing:
Training specifically curated from TXCDR training for the specific type of work that the Congregation’s mission team is likely to encounter. It may also include non-standard training driven by the unmet needs of the disaster area.
Logistical support for the Congregation’s mission team, including assistance in locating a Congregation that will host the out-of-town group, coordination of meals, and access to tools and materials.
Assessment support to identify projects that the mission team will work on, including a scope of work and an enumeration of the materials, skills, and tools their work is likely to require.
Please note that MTS is activated and tailored to a specific natural disaster. For example, MTS training for a mission team heading into an urban area impacted by a tropical storm with heavy local flooding and MTS for a rural county devastated by a tornado will be different because the nature of the work is different.
