TXCDR is sponsoring missions to Jasper and Newton Counties.
Tarping Missions
Trained Tarp & Board Teams of five will be deployed to the Newton/Jasper area to help people impacted from Hurricane Laura. The Mission cost is $125/day/person and will cover; supplies, lodging, food and projects.
Initially, we can accept up to ten persons in Jasper. Teams should be no smaller than four and no larger than six. Five is ideal.
TXCDR will train teams in Houston on proper tarping procedures. Tarping can be dangerous work and bing trained in proper techniques and safety procedures is vital. Once teams are formed we will arrange in-person training.
Our East-Texas based assessor will choose sites that are structurally stable and will provide expert advice. We have many sites already identified.
TXCDR will provide ladders, Ice, hard hats, foam cushions, saw horses, nails and screws, tarps, and lumber.
Individuals should bring sleeping bag and shower essentials, and personal PPE.
Each team should bring hammers, cordless screw guns, spare batteries, battery chargers, a caulk gun, a circular saw, two handsaws, wo tape measures, an angle broom, utility knives, flourescent organge paint, safety glasses, a 50’ extension cord, work gloves, two coolers or a cooler and a water jug, and N95 masks
Individuals should dress in long sleeve shirts, long pants, heavy-duty rubber-soled shoes/boots, appropriate outerwear, hat, cooling handkerchiefs, insect repellant, sunscreen, sweat rags, knee pads (recommended). mask and goggles or safety glasses.
