TXCDR Response Training

Hosting Out-of-Town Volunteers

Hosting Out-of-Town Volunteers and mission teams is another way Congregations can support disaster recovery. Out-of-town volunteer teams need a place to sleep, meals, and shower after a hard day’s work. Congregations with kitchen facilities, classrooms, and access to shower facilities are ideal!

Laundry Services
for Survivors

TXCDR Laundry Services for Survivors Response Teams help evacuees by cleaning their clothes. Volunteers take clothing home to wash, dry, and fold or partner with a local laundromat, school, or gym or partner with a company or non-profit for mobile laundry services.

Muck - Gut - Tarp

Muck-Gut-Tarp Response Teams assist homeowners and residents sort through wet belongings. They also help homeowners prepare their homes to dry before repairs can begin. They remove water-damaged drywall, rugs, some flooring, and household contents and help preserve those items that can be salvaged. They sanitize the home to prevent mold growth. Muck-Gut-Tarp Response Teams are trained to install temporary blue-tarp roofing systems on one-story buildings that meet our safety standards,

Mission Team Support

Mission Team Support training is for those who wish to serve in aiding affected areas recover from the recent disasters. The training focuses on the processes of mucking, gutting, and tarping homes and is tailored to the experiences the Mission Team can expect to see as they serve remotely.

Transportation Services
for Survivors

Transportation Services for Survivors Response Teams supply transportation for clients primarily to and from people shelters. People in a shelter may need to refill their prescriptions or visit their doctor or financial institution while at the shelter and may not have transportation. Members of a Transportation Services
for Survivors Team recruit drivers and dispatch drivers in private cars to assist evacuees in need.

Compassionate Care

Compassionate Care is caring for the individual who has been impacted by the disaster. TXCDR Response Teams know they are not just working on a house but are serving a family whose whole life has been turned upside down. They take the time to listen to those affected by the disaster.
We offer emotional and spiritual support, empathy, encouragement, and hope.

Donation Distribution Management

Handling emergency needs for supplies from food, formula, and diapers to cleaning supplies and building materials is the area of focus for our Donation Distribution Response Teams. Our regional warehouses handle bulk materials, and our smaller Congregational Distribution Centers collect donations and distribute goods to the community.

Sheltering People

Sheltering People Response Teams provide shelter and support to those affected by a disaster who need to evacuate their homes. TXCDR partners with the American Red Cross to manage its shelters. TXCDR Response Teams walk alongside People Shelters providing laundry services, pet sheltering, and transportation services to evacuees in need. We also encourage Congregations to support out-of-town responders with a place to stay.

Sheltering Pets

Pet Sheltering Response Teams provide an opportunity for people to evacuate to a shelter with their pets in a co-located facility. Many pet owners are reluctant to be rescued without their pets. By providing a pet shelter near the people shelter, we can encourage early evacuation and help families in an ARC shelter to care for their dogs and cats, providing kennels and food.

Disaster Readiness Coordinator (DRC) Orientation

This training is for current and prospective DRCs and assistant DRCs

Regional Warehousing

Regional Warehousing Centers procure, store, and distribute bulk supplies to Distribution Centers.

Donation Distribution Management

Donation Management Centers collect supplies for disasters far and wide.

Volunteer Coordinator

Spontaneous Volunteers are a vital and welcome part of every recovery response. Some are highly skilled, while others require training. Volunteer Coordinators are critical as they manage the onboarding process to ensure a rewarding and safe volunteer experience for all.
